It’s blue skies at the allotment vegetable garden and the perfect kind of day for planting onion sets, garlic, and shallots. This year I ordered six types of autumn planting varieties and they’re destined to grow in a bed on my new plot.
The varieties I have need to be planted in late autumn to early winter and incredibly, they start to grow right away. At least a little before they decide to hunker down for the winter. Come spring they’ll start growing again and have a head start on any planted in the new year.
In this video I clear the new bed, which has been covered in landscaping fabric and wood chips, prepare the surface, and begin planting. This year I’m growing:
— Shallots: Longor
— Shallot: Griselle
— Garlic: Edenrose
— Garlic: Printanour
— Onion: Autumn Champion
— Onion: Electric
